Participate in "Berlin Reads" - Prelude to 13th International Literature Festival Berlin (4th Sept.)

Call for the reading performance “berlin reads” as a prelude to the 13th international literature festival berlin on the 4th of September 2013

As a prelude to last year's festival we had thought of something special – the international literature festival berlin (ilb) invited in 2012 people living in Berlin to read a piece of prose or poetry of their choice at their favourite place one hour before the festival. Well over 100 participants – authors, friends of the festival, actors, booksellers, librarians and teachers took part in the first edition by reading in every district of Berlin. This year we call on everyone once again – and expand the time frame of the readings. This year’s great reading performance on September the 4th begins at 6 a.m. and finishes at 5.30 p.m. – half an hour before the opening of the 13th ilb in the Haus der Berliner Festspiele.

The choice of the reading spot is entirely up to you: thus it can take place in an underground or train, on your doorstep, in a public square, in a park, Unter den Linden or in a bookshop. The reading should take between 5 and 15 minutes.

If you want to read in a foreign language – wonderful! Please inform us about the language you will be reading in.

We would be delighted to count you among our participants.
We need - best by August 30th:
  • your name
  • the title of the work you will be reading from and the author's name
  • the exact place of your reading
  • the exact time of your reading

Two weeks before the festival starts we will announce all the readings on our website and via Facebook.

Please send us an e-mail to berlinliest@literaturfestival.com or mail to:
